Today, October 15th is officially recognized as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day.

As many as one in five pregnancies end in miscarriage.

Each year in Canada there are approximately six stillborn infants for every 1000 total births.

Even though many women and families have experienced pregnancy or infant loss, or know someone who has, it is a loss that unfortunately exists in the shadows. Bereaved parents often feel isolated and alone.

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month enables us to consider how, as individuals and communities, we can meet the needs of bereaved parents and family members.

Early Pregnancy Loss, Stillbirth, and Infant Loss are deeply painful experiences that many families face, yet these losses receive little attention. It may be hard to talk about, but the more open we are, the better we can serve bereaved parents.

At The WOMB, our team is trained to guide, help and nurture families through grief, acceptance and healing. Reach out to us.

You are not alone.
